Hi!

Workouts
We were feeling a little cabin-fevered and took a really beautiful hike on Sunday. Chris realized that we don’t have many “us in the snow!” photos, so we remedied:

Eats
1) I’m sorry for the mega-blurry photo, but this smelled amazing and I guess my fingers were trembling with anticipation - steamed kale, refried beans, avocado, and homemade salsa.

2) Chris and I visited a salad bar that was amazing. I only took one photo because who takes a photo of every plate at a salad bar?

All of the fresh, raw vegetables were the perfect way to escape the wintery cold. Plus, they had a stirfry station!
Blah
I’m sorry if this post feels brief or uninspired, but the truth is that I’m not feeling very blog-worthy lately. I haven’t been eating healthfully or exercising (unless whining about grad school counts as exercise) and I don’t really have anything interesting or insightful to share with you. I’m literally slouching a lot these days.
I’m just feeling very…blah lately. I guess I just wanted to write and let you know that I’ve been enjoying reading everyone’s updates and that all of you are inspirations to me, so, thank you!
Anyone else feeling out of sorts?

Maybe your blahhness has to do with the weather? I know on colder/less sunnier days I just am not feeling like my normal peppy self!
I think you’re totally right, Kailey – it has been SO gray and dreary here!
Girrrl you’re not alone in that feeling! I feel that way with blogging sometimes, too.
It’s crazy! Sometimes I feel like I have a million things to say, but sometimes I feel like I can’t write two words.
Totally know how you’re feeling! I haven’t posted since last week! Sometimes I go through weeks where I have absolutely nothing to say, and am not inspired by anything!
I really feel like “blah” is the perfect way to describe it. It’s not sadness or anger…just…blah. Fortunately, it passes
I feel like everyone is in the sort of mood! Is it the weekend yet!?
ALMOST!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Friday, Alysha! Give Oliver a hug for me
That is a great photo of you two!!! I have felt a bit uninspired lately too!!! Must be in the air. Hope school and life are going well for you.
Thank you, Jess! I felt better almost immediately after writing it out
Haha I shake when my food smells amazing too. I have to prop my arms against something to chill out!! Or I have to just eat and ditch the photo opp. Love that picture of you two in the snow!
I often prop my phone on a glass of water before taking photos (it’s a good height!) This drives my husband BANANAS because he (rightly) believes that I’ll drop my phone in the water someday
Thanks, Brittany!!
Hey Alex – you are fabulous and hardly blah! I love reading your food updates and this post’s kale, beans and salsa combo sounds great. Out of curiosity, what salsa recipe do you use?
Thank you so much, Sun!
I actually didn’t make the salsa; it was a gift from a relative. I know that she adds garlic and onions to it. Also, her secret ingredient is sugar
It’s nice to hear from you, Alex! I was feeling very blah last week, so power through it–hope you’re feeling better today.
Thank you, Carrie! Powering through really is the best way to fight it!
Reblogged this on .
Oh no
Hope everything is ok with grad school. You can always do a post and vent about it. It always helps
Thank you, Nadiya! Venting does help a lot
sorry youre feeling blah…but you know, i think it’s much better to have posts you are proud of and think are quality, rather than posting just for the sake of posting.
you two love birds are adorbs! YOUR TEETH ARE SO WHITE
Thank you, Tiffany!
Haha! My husband makes me floss every night
No worries, Alex. I’ve been feeling the same lately…hence my absense from the blog world. I’ve got a lot going on right now (started a new, crazier job!) and so blogging has taken a backseat. Other things just need my attention right now. Plus, I’ve been struggling to haul my ass to gym. Not exactly the picture of health right now. But, it happens. I’ll still be reading whenever you do post!
Congratulations on the new job, Angela! I’m sure you’re going to do really well.
It does make me feel better to know that I’m not the only one who’s struggling a little bit right now. It’ll get better!
First off, I totally chuckled at “fingers were trembling with anticipation”. Second, I CANNOT even begin to tell you how much I relate to the blah feeling. School PLUS winter is really killing me. I started to have a panic attack today in the middle of class and it was awful. Gahhh, it’s totally just winter. It will pass!!
I totally think we’re the same person sometimes! I hate to use the word “blah” to describe a feeling, but I couldn’t think of anything else. It’s not sadness, exactly, it’s more of just a general apathy and lack of motivation.
I’m sorry to hear about your class! One other poster actually said the exact same thing. Yikes!
Sorry you’re feeling a bit blah, I know the feeling as I’m always like that when my energy levels plummet. I agree with everyone saying that it’s ‘that time of the year’, hopefully when it warms up and the sun shines we’ll all feel better!
Your snowy walk sounds lovely
And the salad bar sounds great, I’ve never been to one and now I’m craving some, despite the cold!
Thank you, Sophie! Yes, I think the weather is a big factor, as well. I’m also ready for some more sunshine!
You must visit a salad bar! It is the most wonderful place in the world where you can eat veggies until you burst
I totally feel like that from time to time…it’s ok if you feel that way! Take a few days to yourself to regroup! PS Love the snow pictures
Thanks, Nikki! Sometimes a few days just to stew and think about things is enough to cheer me up
I think it is the time of year, I get that blah feeling when this weather rolls in . Hope you feel better this week
Thank you, Alex! I also think the weather is a huge part of it :-/
I think it’s “that” time of year. I’m feeling slouchy too. I need more sunlight, warmer weather and extra free-time to rejuvenate myself!
The kale/refried bean/avocado/salsa dish is sooooo up my alley. Delish!
“more sunlight, warmer weather and extra free-time” – yes, this sounds perfect!
We like to keep it simple, too!!
I am feeling blah because I’m a bit under the weather today. So jealous of the snow! Surely that’s making you feel a little better
Aw, I hope you’re feeling better by now! I’m glad you have someone to take care of you
